British hip-hop star Tulisa Contostavlos has been honoured with a Mind Media Award for her TV documentary about her role as carer for her sick mother.
The N-Dubz star was handed the Documentary Award for her programme Tulisa: My Mum and Me at the ceremony on Monday night (28Nov11) at London’s British Film Institute.
The documentary showed the singer taking care of her mother, who suffers from schizoaffective disorder.
Contostavlos says, “Mental health issues are something that’s very close to my heart. Winning a Mind Media Award means so much to me, I’m blown away. It’s something that affects so many people and their families. I wanted My Mum and Me to show that no one should be ashamed to speak out about mental health issues.”
Other winners on the night included British TV show Casualty, which won the Best Drama trophy, while prison radio station Radio Wanno’s Interview with Stephen Fry won the Chairman’s Special Award.
The prizegiving is held by mental health charity Mind.

SHE’S not called The Female Boss for nothing.
Feisty Tulisa Contostavlos is demanding a pay rise for next year’s X Factor – and, in the mean time, defying an Ofcom investigation trying to get her to cover up her trademark tattoo.
Despite viewer complaints her The Female Boss inking is illegally promoting her new perfume of the same name, the judge will perform the signature forearm flash on tonight’s show.
Quashing speculation that she has been ordered to wear long-sleeved dresses by ITV1 bosses, T, 23, reckons no one will stop her showing off the artwork. Not even Simon Cowell. More of him later…
Chatting over a fry-up in her dressing room, the N-Dubz singer said: “I was showing off my tattoo long before The X Factor. It’s always been my trademark and it’s always been my nickname.
“The perfume’s not actually called The Female Boss – it’s just TFB. So someone wouldn’t go into a shop and buy my perfume just because they’d seen my tattoo. The show told me it’s OK, I can carry on doing it – and I will.”

Sitting beneath a framed photo of [The Male Boss] Simon – a gift from the mogul – she revealed she hopes to have her contract renewed. With interest.
While many TV stars claim they’d take a pay-cut in the face of the recession, Tulisa, well, won’t.
“I definitely want to come back next series,” she added. “But would I do it for a pay-cut? Definitely not. That’s ridiculous.”

The N-Dubz singer — a judge on the telly talent contest — revealed she has received sinister messages warning her: “I’m gonna hunt you down and kill you.”
But 23-year-old Tulisa, brought up on a tough council estate, prefers to tackle the senders head-on rather than call in the police.
She said: “I’ve always had abuse — since the age of 17 — so I’ve been trained for it.
“It’s nothing to me. If anything it’s gotten a bit more light-hearted since I’ve been on the show.
“N-Dubz fans are a bit feistier. It used to be, ‘I’m gonna slice your throat and you’re a whore’. Now it’s more like, ‘You’re s***, I hate you’.
Laugh
“You still get the whole, ‘I’m gonna hunt you down and kill you’. But I’ll message them back and go, ‘Bring it on, bitch’. That s*** doesn’t bother me.
“It’s probably some spotty 12-year-old having a laugh with his mates because he can’t get a girlfriend.”
Yet Tulisa, originally from North London, admits other aspects of TV fame are harder to handle.
Speaking to The Sun from her dressing room backstage at the X Factor studio, she said: “I used to go out and one or two people would recognise me. Now everyone I walk past asks for a picture.
“I’m always polite though, even if inside I’m, like, ‘Noooo’.
“I’ve never wanted to be really famous — I just like being normal.
“I was quite happy with the N-Dubz fans. Our fans are our fans. But now it’s a whole new level because I’m judging people, so then I’m being judged by people.
“I’m a hypocrite I suppose because I put myself in that position.
“I always say if you don’t like an N-Dubz video turn it over. I can’t say that any more because this is the public’s show.”
Additional troubles come in the form of Ofcom, who this week announced they had launched a probe into claims that Tulisa was promoting her new perfume by performing her famous arm “salute” at the start of every X Factor.
The brunette has a tattoo there saying “The Female Boss” — coincidentally the name of her scent.
Meanwhile Tulisa revealed how her charms caught the attention of TOWIE hunk Mark Wright.
She said the jungle Tarzan tapped her up weeks after splitting from fiancée Lauren Goodger. Tulisa said: “Mark Wright sent me a message and said I was fit. It was funny, but I might be a bit intimidating for him.”
In fact, Tulisa is perfectly happy with her own boyfriend — N-Dubz band-mate Fazer.
She said: “If I feel like someone is flirting with me, I’ll just casually drop him into the conversation. People soon back off.”
Tulisa famously fell out with fellow X Factor judge Kelly Rowland when they argued over contestant Misha B. And while it’s water under the bridge now, the pair are still not exactly bosom buddies.
Tulisa on Kelly Rowland … ‘We both used to be closer… I’ll not lie’
Scott Hornby/The Sun
Tulisa said: “I’m not going to lie. There were times we were closer and I’d like it to be like that.
“I never disliked her. When we’re good, we’re good.”
The singer heaps praise on “mature” judge, Take That’s Gary Barlow — but it’s clear Irishman Louis Walsh is her best friend on the show.
She said: “I love Louis. He’s a big kid. He thought he was going to hate me. He thought he was going to see a chav in a tracksuit. That’s not me at all — well, not exactly.
“I like to see myself as a sophisticated chav in an expensive tracksuit. A polite chav, if you like.”
And Tulisa’s politeness extends to insisting she would never peel off for a saucy magazine shoot.
She says: “I’d never get naked in a mag. I don’t care how much money. You can offer me millions.
“I’m not a prostitute. I’m sorry, naked? That’s no diss to anyone who does it, but I’m a musician — I’m not selling my body.”
Fittingly, Tulisa, who has a shrine to X Factor guru Simon Cowell in her dressing room, reckons the success of her final act Little Mix is due largely to their wholesome vibe.
Girl groups traditionally don’t do well on the show — but Little Mix have so far bucked the trend.
Tulisa, who says she will return to the panel next year if asked, said: “Girls are bitchy and don’t like other girls — that’s why girlbands have had this curse thing.
“But Little Mix are sweet, cute and fresh. They’re genuinely nice girls and it really shines through.”

Jason Manford has hit out at X Factor stars Cheryl Cole and Tulisa Contostavlos, saying that they are both ‘equally pointless’ and unqualified to judge other people’s musical talent. Jason who was a The former One Show host hit out at the singers, saying that they don’t have enough ‘knowledge or experience’ to pass comment on other peoples skills.
Jason blasted:
“To me they’re equally as pointless really.
“I feel a judge needs to be a place of knowledge and experience.
“I think Gary Barlow, Simon and Louis Walsh have that, but the female ones… I think, really?
“You have to know both sides of the fame gameand Cheryl and Tulisa don’t have that.”
We were with Jason, right up until he brought Louis Walsh into it. Surely he is the biggest lame duck of all?
Manford is watching this year’s series of the ITV show and thinks Gary Barlow is doing a great job as Simon Cowell’s replacement. He loves his honesty with hopefuls and added:
“He’ll tell someone they’re crap and enjoys that more than telling someone they’re brilliant.”

Tulisa-World.com Response :-
Jason is not a musician for starters , he has no clue what so ever about the music industry like tulisa and fellow judge cheryl do!, Tulisa has been in the music scene for over 12 years now and is from a huge successful band N-Dubz who know what they are talking about. Tulisa knows her stuff and simon would not have employed her on the xfactor if he didn’t think she was a good enough judge for his show, people need to stop critising tulisa and judge her on the talent because she has amazing talent! Like we say all the time EVERYONE is unique and talented in their own way no matter what! – Tulisa-World.com

Little Mix delivered their strongest performance yet on Saturday night’s X Factor, when the gorgeous girlgroup sang En Vogue’s Don’t Let Go.
Louis Walsh told them: “To me, you could be the best girlband to come out of the UK.”
Now, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirwall are determined to make it to the final and break The X Factor“girlband curse.”
But they couldn’t have got to where they are in the competition without the backing and support of mentor Tulisa Contostavlos.
The girls have built up a close bond with the N-Dubz star and while other acts have been at odds with their mentors, arguing over song choices and outfits, Little Mix have nothing but praise for Tulisa.
Jesy told The Sun: “Tulisa is a brilliant mentor. She is so full on and she does everything for us.
“She is not only our mentor, she is our friend.”
The girls are keen to keep their heads down during the week and get stuck into rehearsals, taking on every comment the judges make.
While Gary Barlow praised their performance on Saturday night, he said he would like to see them comeback with a stripped back track that would showcase their vocals.
What Gary wants, Gary gets as Jesy explained: “We have two songs this week so we can do some different stuff and maybe he will see us a little more stripped back.”
Although JLS and One Direction have gone on to enjoy incredible success off the back of X Factor, a Group has never won the competition.
Could Little Mix be the first band to take The X Factor crown.
Jade said: “This year it has all been about doing new things — new judges, new styles — so maybe there can be a new kind of winner… like a girl band. We want it so bad.”

X Factor judge Tulisa could be banned from making her signature arm gesture to audiences at the start of each show, as Ofcom launches an investigation into whether she is illegally promoting her new perfume with her tattoo.
The media regulator has also received a small number of complaints about swear words that singer Rihanna had emblazoned on her shoes during a performance on Sunday night’s results show. Ofcom has not yet decided if it will launch an investigation into the incident.
Tulisa has become known for greeting the studio audience and viewers at home by holding her forearm across her chest and flashing her tattoo, which says The Female Boss, when she is introduced alongside the other judges at the start of each X Factor show.
Last month the N-Dubz star, 23, unveiled a new perfume called The Female Boss in a glitzy launch at the Oxford Street branch of The Perfume Shop.
Media regulator Ofcom has received complaints that her overt display of her tattoo breaks strict rules on the promotion and reference of commercial products by talent.
Ofcom has received complaints about her action on the main X Factor show and also in a segment shown in The Xtra Factor.
The segment on The Xtra Factor made explicit reference to The Female Boss perfume and discussed the connection to her signature move, including showing a clip.
Ofcom has launched an investigation to see if the brandishing of Tulisa’s tattoo, which she is thought to have got at the start of the year, is in breach of broadcasting regulations.
Late last year Ofcom received almost 3,000 complaints about raunchy dance routines by Rihanna and Christina Aguilera during last year’s X Factor finals.
Ofcom cleared the routines but warned that they were ”at the limit” of acceptability for a pre-9pm broadcast. The furore over The X Factor final routines helped prompt an Ofcom crackdown on raunchy routines and song lyrics being broadcast before the 9pm watershed.

Tulisa-World.com’s Veiw …
“Tulisa is NOT , we repeat NOT , using her “The Female Boss” Tattoo to advertise her fragrance , Tulisa has had her tattoo since the begging of this year and was planning getting the tattoo long before that, its her own signature , like her and her band mates have their own, it’s a ndublet and muffin thing!.”
She’s taken on twice as much work as most people could manage, and it looks like the strain is finally hitting Tulisa Contostavlos.
The X Factor judge looked shattered as she left her hotel before performing at Children In Need’s Manchester Rocks show yesterday.
The 23-year-old initially kept her head down and covered her eyes with sunglasses.
Tulisa Contostavlos looked exhausted as she left her Manchester hotel to perform at the BBC Children In Need concert yesterday
When she removed them, Tulisa revealed heavily made-up eyes, and an expression of exhaustion.
The generously applied silver shadow and thick black lashes couldn’t disguise her tired eyes.
A healthy caramel tan and blusher ensured there was some olour in her face however.
Tulisa looked very slender in a small flowery dress, showing off her long legs with patterned tights and black heels.
Her favourite black leather jacket completed the look, and the star wore her long dark hair loose over her shoulders.
She helped open the Children in Need show at Manchester’s MEN arena show along with the rest of singing supergroup The Collective.
The troupe included urban stars Dot Rotten, Tinchy Stryder, Rizzle Kicks, Ms Dynamite, Mz Bratt, Labyrinth, Wretch 32 and Ed Sheeran.
Ed, one of the year’s biggest newcomers later put in a solo performance on stage in a smart black suit, following Lady Gaga.
Tulisa looked conservative compared to the US star, wearing a black waistcoat style top and black leggins with sparkling detailing down the sides.
