The collaboration marks the first time that Samsung has launched a promotion with Contostavlos, who has become a household name since joining ‘The X Factor’.

The tie-up means that customers who buy a Samsung Galaxy phone from Phones4u from tomorrow (27 January) will stand a chance of winning a ticket to the solo gig by Contostavlos, who is also a member of N-Dubz.

Winners of the competition will be asked to use their new phone to film Contostavlos performing, with the footage being used to create an alternative music video to support the release of Tulisa’s new single.

Samsung will invite 100 competition winners to attend the shoot with a friend.

All customers who buy a Samsung Galaxy Phone from Phones4u will receive preview content from Tulisa’s upcoming solo career, including video footage, photographs and wallpapers.

The promotion will be supported in-store at Phones 4u, with Tulisa set to make a personal appearance at the best-performing store.

Tulisa Contostavlos, Little Mix

Tulisa Contostavlos has vowed to support Little Mix now that the X Factor is over (Picture: Rex)
Tulisa, who was moved to tears when the girl band were crowned the X Factor winners last night, told the Xtra Factor that she would continue to mentor Little Mix, saying: ‘I’m here for them whenever they need me.’

The N-Dubz front woman also gushed that she and the girls, Jesy, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne, are ‘my new best mates’ and that the five of them had become ‘silly close’.

Tulisa also said that although she ‘isn’t qualified enough’ to manage the girls full time, she would make herself available to them for advice whenever they need it.

The Playing With Fire singer said: ‘I’m not qualified enough to manage them. I would manage them if I was allowed to but I guess that’s not how it works. I’m always going to be there for them. I’ll get involved as much as I can. and just go with the flow and give as much advice and help as I possibly can.’

Little Mix beat off stiff competition from Gary Barlow’s act Marcus Collins in the final on Saturday night, going on to wow the crowd with a heartfelt performance of their Christmas single, a cover of Damien Rice’s Cannonball.

The girl group said of their win: ‘This is never going to sink in! We cannot thank the public enough for voting for us.’

It was an emotional night for Tulisa, which saw her ‘little muffins’ Little Mix become the first girl group ever to make the X Factor final.

But that wasn’t the only thing which made the night particularly special for the 23-year-old.

Tulisa’s mother, Anne Byrne, with whom the singer has had a troubled relationship in the past, was there to give her daughter a hug after the show.

The singer tweeted before last night’s show: ‘Gettin ready 4 2nits show, mums in the dressing room with me givin me mummy support lol!Ive got butterflies!Fingers crossed 4#LITTLEMIX’

Odd though it might appear for Tulisa to be supporting her mother on such a night, she is only too used to it, having done so for most of her life.

At the age of 11, she was thrust into the role of primary carer for her mother Anne, now 51, who suffers from schizoaffective disorder.

The condition, which affects one in 200 people, is a combination of a serious mood disorder – in Anne’s case bipolar – and schizophrenia.

For those living with the condition, moods can swing from deep depression to extreme elation while at the same time causing hallucinations.

Sufferers often become paranoid that inanimate objects such as a television are trying to harm them.

Anne focused all her attention on only child Tulisa. Her daughter become a recluse in their one-bedroom flat in a rundown Camden council estate.

Sharing the experience: Tulisa tweeted before the show that she was in her dressing room supporting her motherSharing the experience: Tulisa tweeted before the show that she was in her dressing room supporting her mother

Tulisa has revealed that she became depressed and started drinking as a teenager because her life ‘felt like a living hell.’

She first attempted suicide at the age of 14 by swallowing a handful of painkillers. Three years later, and alone one night, she slashed her wrists.

Tulisa has admitted: ‘One of the worst things about dealing with my mum was how helpless and alone I felt at such a vulnerable age.’

‘The doctors didn’t seem to be able to stabilise my mother’s moods and I felt myself being dragged further and further down by the environment I was forced to live in.’

‘Music and my dream of becoming a success was all that kept me going through those very dark times,’ said Tulisa.

Tulisa was just nine when the reality of her mother’s illness hit her.

She has divulged: ‘My dad left home and it triggered one of her episodes. One minute she’d look all mournful as if someone had died, the next she’d be angry and aggressive, smashing cupboards and shouting.’

Opened up: Tulisa described how she coped growing up with her mother's illness in a BB3 documentary last year called My Mum and MeOpened up: Tulisa described how she coped growing up with her mother’s illness in a BB3 documentary last year called My Mum and Me

‘Inevitably, she went into hospital again and I stayed with my mum’s older sister, Louise. She had children of her own and it was felt she was more able to look after a young girl.’

Weight on her shoulders: The responsibility of looking after her mother as a child left Tulisa feeling isolatedWeight on her shoulders: The responsibility of looking after her mother as a child left Tulisa feeling isolated

‘I used to dread my mum getting better and coming home because it would mean I’d have to leave my aunt’s house where I felt safe and happy and normal.’

As a result, Tulisa often felt isolated, as she explained: ‘I was 11 and my mum expected me to be her emotional support but I didn’t really understand what that was. It was incredibly tough.’

‘Sometimes I would spend weeks taking her back and forward to A&E and then finally they would admit her and she’d be in hospital for up to three months.

‘I started losing respect for my mum. She couldn’t take care of herself so I didn’t see how she thought she could take care of me.

‘She didn’t want my friends in the house and didn’t want me to go out. I started missing school and got in with a bad crowd.’

Tulisa spent almost a year living with her father and, along with support from her uncle Byron, N-Dubz’s former manager, she started getting her life back on track.

Turbulent times: Tulisa lived with her father Plato for a time in her teens when coping with her mother's illness became too muchTurbulent times: Tulisa was nine when she realised the severity of her mother’s illness

She would hang around Byron’s recording studio writing songs, and with her cousin Dappy formed the beginnings of the group which would change her life around- N-Dubz.

In 2007 Anne was finally diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and her behaviour has remained stable ever since.

Tulisa admits: ‘Medical experts don’t seem to know for sure whether this disorder is hereditary.’

‘My own feeling is that everyone has the ability to become depressed or go to a dark place, and whether that could trigger the type of behaviour and illness my mum suffers, who knows?’

‘I believe a lot of it comes down to how strong you are mentally. I have been through a lot for someone my age but it has made me strong and determined and I have to pray that is enough for me not to suffer the way my mum has.’

X Factor star Tulisa’s ‘arm salute’ was supposedly invented by the show’s production team… to give her something to do! According to Reveal magazine, the producers wanted to give Tulisa her own trademark after Cheryl’s salute last year. Unfortunately, the movement has landed the show in hot water with telly watchdog Ofcom over claims it’s promoting the singer’s new perfume. A spokesperson confirmed: “It’s still an ongoing investigation. It could take months, but we are taking the incident seriously and we’re looking into it.”

A supposed show source claimed this week: “Tulisa is absolutely furious that people have been complaining about her arm salute.

“It was invented by production crew to give her something to do when appearing at the start of the show. Cheryl Cole had her salute last year and this is Tulisa’s trademark.

“She wasn’t that keen on it at the start. It gave her a ‘street’ identity – whereas Kelly was promoted as the sharing, caring one so she got a big glossy smile.”

The insider added: “She’ feels as though she’s been made to look stupid, when the same salute wasn’t the even her idea in the first place.”

However Tulisa previously insisted that the salute has always been her trademark, and she’s not going to stop doing it!

“I was showing off my tattoo long before The X Factor. It’s always been my trademark and it’s always been my nickname,” the feisty N-Dubz star said.

SHE’S not called The Female Boss for nothing.

Feisty Tulisa Contostavlos is demanding a pay rise for next year’s X Factor – and, in the mean time, defying an Ofcom investigation trying to get her to cover up her trademark tattoo.

Despite viewer complaints her The Female Boss inking is illegally promoting her new perfume of the same name, the judge will perform the signature forearm flash on tonight’s show.

Quashing speculation that she has been ordered to wear long-sleeved dresses by ITV1 bosses, T, 23, reckons no one will stop her showing off the artwork. Not even Simon Cowell. More of him later…

Chatting over a fry-up in her dressing room, the N-Dubz singer said: “I was showing off my tattoo long before The X Factor. It’s always been my trademark and it’s always been my nickname.

“The perfume’s not actually called The Female Boss – it’s just TFB. So someone wouldn’t go into a shop and buy my perfume just because they’d seen my tattoo. The show told me it’s OK, I can carry on doing it – and I will.”

Sitting beneath a framed photo of [The Male Boss] Simon – a gift from the mogul – she revealed she hopes to have her contract renewed. With interest.

While many TV stars claim they’d take a pay-cut in the face of the recession, Tulisa, well, won’t.

“I definitely want to come back next series,” she added. “But would I do it for a pay-cut? Definitely not. That’s ridiculous.”

The N-Dubz singer — a judge on the telly talent contest — revealed she has received sinister messages warning her: “I’m gonna hunt you down and kill you.”

But 23-year-old Tulisa, brought up on a tough council estate, prefers to tackle the senders head-on rather than call in the police.

She said: “I’ve always had abuse — since the age of 17 — so I’ve been trained for it.

“It’s nothing to me. If anything it’s gotten a bit more light-hearted since I’ve been on the show.

“N-Dubz fans are a bit feistier. It used to be, ‘I’m gonna slice your throat and you’re a whore’. Now it’s more like, ‘You’re s***, I hate you’.

Laugh

“You still get the whole, ‘I’m gonna hunt you down and kill you’. But I’ll message them back and go, ‘Bring it on, bitch’. That s*** doesn’t bother me.

“It’s probably some spotty 12-year-old having a laugh with his mates because he can’t get a girlfriend.”

Yet Tulisa, originally from North London, admits other aspects of TV fame are harder to handle.

Speaking to The Sun from her dressing room backstage at the X Factor studio, she said: “I used to go out and one or two people would recognise me. Now everyone I walk past asks for a picture.

“I’m always polite though, even if inside I’m, like, ‘Noooo’.

“I’ve never wanted to be really famous — I just like being normal.

“I was quite happy with the N-Dubz fans. Our fans are our fans. But now it’s a whole new level because I’m judging people, so then I’m being judged by people.

“I’m a hypocrite I suppose because I put myself in that position.

“I always say if you don’t like an N-Dubz video turn it over. I can’t say that any more because this is the public’s show.”

Additional troubles come in the form of Ofcom, who this week announced they had launched a probe into claims that Tulisa was promoting her new perfume by performing her famous arm “salute” at the start of every X Factor.

The brunette has a tattoo there saying “The Female Boss” — coincidentally the name of her scent.

Meanwhile Tulisa revealed how her charms caught the attention of TOWIE hunk Mark Wright.

She said the jungle Tarzan tapped her up weeks after splitting from fiancée Lauren Goodger. Tulisa said: “Mark Wright sent me a message and said I was fit. It was funny, but I might be a bit intimidating for him.”

In fact, Tulisa is perfectly happy with her own boyfriend — N-Dubz band-mate Fazer.

She said: “If I feel like someone is flirting with me, I’ll just casually drop him into the conversation. People soon back off.”

Tulisa famously fell out with fellow X Factor judge Kelly Rowland when they argued over contestant Misha B. And while it’s water under the bridge now, the pair are still not exactly bosom buddies.

Tulisa on Kelly Rowland ... 'We both used to be closer... I'll not lie'

Tulisa on Kelly Rowland … ‘We both used to be closer… I’ll not lie’

Scott Hornby/The Sun

Tulisa said: “I’m not going to lie. There were times we were closer and I’d like it to be like that.

“I never disliked her. When we’re good, we’re good.”

The singer heaps praise on “mature” judge, Take That’s Gary Barlow — but it’s clear Irishman Louis Walsh is her best friend on the show.

She said: “I love Louis. He’s a big kid. He thought he was going to hate me. He thought he was going to see a chav in a tracksuit. That’s not me at all — well, not exactly.

“I like to see myself as a sophisticated chav in an expensive tracksuit. A polite chav, if you like.”

And Tulisa’s politeness extends to insisting she would never peel off for a saucy magazine shoot.

She says: “I’d never get naked in a mag. I don’t care how much money. You can offer me millions.

“I’m not a prostitute. I’m sorry, naked? That’s no diss to anyone who does it, but I’m a musician — I’m not selling my body.”

Fittingly, Tulisa, who has a shrine to X Factor guru Simon Cowell in her dressing room, reckons the success of her final act Little Mix is due largely to their wholesome vibe.

Girl groups traditionally don’t do well on the show — but Little Mix have so far bucked the trend.

Tulisa, who says she will return to the panel next year if asked, said: “Girls are bitchy and don’t like other girls — that’s why girlbands have had this curse thing.

“But Little Mix are sweet, cute and fresh. They’re genuinely nice girls and it really shines through.”
